Frequently Asked Questions Print E-mail
1. Are The Chemicals That You Use Dangerous?
A. Everything these days appears to be dangerous if you listen to and believe the media. Pest control has always been seen as using ‘dangerous’ chemicals that’s because for years and years they were dangerous. This why pest controllers didn’t see 60 years of age in most cases. Today is different with the introduction of Synthetic Pyrethroids which are derived from plants i.e. the Daisy. For you and me this means that now you get a safe chemical which effects insect bodies and not reptiles or mammals. This means that I get past 60 (touch wood) and you get very few pests. The products that we buy are the best available. We have the latest equipment and take every precaution when it comes to the safety of your family and pets.

2. How Safe Are My Pets?
A. Pets like cats and dogs have no problems but we recommend that birds, fish or any other fragile pet be covered up or removed during treatment. We simply do this as a precaution only as the pet might be scared to death by our technique rather than the chemical hurting it and we don’t want that to happen. Once the treatment is complete we have had no adverse reports of pets reacting to the treatment.

3. How Bad Are Termites In Darwin & The Top End?
A. Very bad. We strongly recommend a termite inspection every 3, 6 or 12 months depending on what the structure is made of, the location and any previous termite issues.

4. How Long Do Treatments Last?
A. How long is a piece of string? It depends on many factors such as weather, if you hose areas down, wind, sun and cleaning. In most cases (in protected areas) the spray products will last around 12 months. The wet season is obviously more difficult to protect from as the water based products will break down in rain effected areas. This means that inside will be fine for 12 months but outside will be good for the ‘dry’ and not so good for the ‘wet’.

5. Are The Rodent Baits Dangerous To Me Or My Pets?
A. Yes. That is why in most cases we will place the baits in the roof space out of harms way or will place them in secure places in secure boxes that are not accessed by children and pets. That said, our studies have shown that dogs which  for some reason were able to access some bait were not effected in the slightest as the baits are designed for small bodies like mice and rats and not larger animals. We prefer to use caution on this one as we would rather not take the risk with your pets.

6. Do The Sprays Smell?

A. Generally the answer would be no as they are marketed as no odour and our experience tells us that. The tick spray is classified as low odour which when dry has no smell. We are very popular for this reason compared to most of our competitors.

7. Do The Sprays Stain?
A. If applied correctly the answer is no. if you have a lot of  dust which sticks to the walls etc. sometimes when the spray is applied by an inexperienced operator too heavily; it causes the spray to run. This then picks up the dust and causes streaks. This is mainly obvious around windows. There is a fine balance between applying enough spray to do the job and over spraying. The windows are a common entry point for pests. We therefore make sure that there is enough spray around these areas. This may result in some streaking.

8. Are Fully Licensed And Insured?
A. Yes

9. Do You Take Credit Cards?
A. Yes we take most major cards and we have mobile EFTPOS in the trucks as well.
